Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 29, 2000

I'm enjoying the calm of just being home this week. Everything went smoother than I'd hoped with the high school musical. Sam was the perfect baby and never fussed as he was dragged to dress rehearsal and the matinee performance. I even managed to take pictures at dress rehearsal as I held him on my shoulder.

Mike was feeling under the weather with the flu. He took last Thursday off due to this. He'd already scheduled Friday off so he could get the boys off to school while I was tied up with the matinee. I wound up taking Sam with me to lessen chances of him getting the bug. Finally yesterday he went to the doctor and got meds for the sore throat.

Saturday Nick went to Mike's dad's while Matt went on a Boy Scout hike with my parents. They hiked to the remains of an old coke "furnace" on state game lands. When they got there Matt wanted to know where the furnace was ... um, you're standing on top of it. I guess he was looking for a modern home furnace. No one had bothered to explain it to the boys first :-)

Mike went with me Saturday night to the performance. Afterwards he helped tear down the set and we then went to the pizza party back at the high school. There were a few minor shenanigans back stage. (about 100 teenagers in the cast, crew and orchestra ... what can you expect) All in all it was a very polished show, well above the high school level of quality. I'm not sure if the same production team will be involved next year as the director's contract is up and we're sort of a package deal. She says each time "This is the last time I do this" but yet somehow always does it again.

Sunday we took it easy. In the evening the boys and I went to celebrate my Godson's 8th birthday. (Mike stayed home so as to not spread the bug to anyone else.) The kids watched The Pokemon Movie at least four times! Nick brought it home from his excursion to Sam's Club with the grandparents and Jeremiah also got a copy for his birthday. The movie itself is bad enough but there are commercials at the end for Pokemon merchandise and the next movie! Yuk! They oughta ban that!

Until next week!
