Suzi's Diary Entries

May 2, 2000

Another week has flown by already!

The weekend was wonderful. Saturday Matt had his team soccer pictures taken then went to help mow grass at my parents. My dad rides along with him but Matt does the majority of the steering -- I can't believe riding mowers come with automatic transmissions these days! Sunday we went to Church then Mike took me to pick out a "Mommy" ring. I wound up picking out a family ring instead. It will have my birthstone and his in the center with our names then a stone for each of the boys with their names on the sides. When we got home Mike spent the rest of the day mowing our entire yard. We then finished the weekend off by grilling ribs and having a picnic dinner with my parents.

Spring soccer is half over. It's rained for every game so far. Last night by the end of the game the kids were saturated. I drove home soggy with what seemed like a mountain of soggy sports equipment. The stuff must swell up or multiply when wet because it seemed as if I just couldn't get away from the stuff. To make things even more fun there is suddenly a community baseball team trying to infringe on the soccer park -- years ago there was a baseball field there with only the batting cage remaining.

Last week during a practice a backhoe showed up and cut the sod off the area right up to the line of the two pee-wee soccer fields. Then a pickup truck started to drag the field creating a dust storm bad enough that we had to move Matt's team to another area while the cloud settled. The worst though is that at the next practice a team showed up and began batting towards the soccer field. There's no fence around the outfield of this area or anything. Last night an adult team showed up to play while there were games. On top of it they put up snow fencing to keep us from parking in the designated area.

Last night I tried talking to a school board member and basically got the run around. Today I've been trying to speak with the school principal and athletic director since 10:00 a.m. Basically I'm getting the run around. They're trying to tell me the principal has been in a meeting all day. I'll give her another 45 minutes to call and if she doesn't I think I'll pack up Nick and Sam then drive to the school and camp out outside the office.

Until next time !
