Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

June 20, 2000

I've just had one of those weeks where it seems half was spent in doctors' offices. First Sam had a cold. Then it turned into the flu. About then, his second tooth popped through. Next he decided to share the flu with Mommy. To cap it all off, I wound up with a severe allergic reaction to some plant poison (possibly sumac). My entire face clear into the scalp swelled up like a balloon almost completely closing my eyes. (So forgive me if I don't make this too long as I'm still pumped full of meds and looking rather squinty and puffy.

Matt had his ball tournament last Saturday. Unfortunately, his team lost in the first round. Mike took him, as I was already signed on to help line up the kids for a run through of Nicks recital. Full dress rehearsal is tomorrow afternoon with shows Wednesday and Thursday night.

We all had an enjoyable night at cousin Ben's graduation party. Matt shadowed the graduates wanting desperately to be included in their activities. It was hard getting him to understand why he couldn't play Frisbee with the herd of 15-19 year-olds since Uncle John (who I might add turned 30 Sunday!) was playing. Usually the two of them play when they're together. Eventually Matt was content batting his tee ball by himself. I suspect this is where the poison entered the picture as it kept going into shrubs and weeds. The next day I was line-drived in the cheek with the ball which seems to be how I came in contact with the toxin!

Last week was the summer computer "camp" sponsored at the school. Matt loved it! On the last day the kids invite their parents to show what they've learned. A lot of the kids kept calling for help from the teacher, not Matt though. He just goes through the stuff like a duck to water ... now he has a list of new software titles he wants! On the other hand, he wants to know if he can go to sleep away boy scout camp for 10 days then got mad when I told him he has a few years till he's eligible for that long a stay. Well, I'll cut out here to go rest the eyes!

Take care!
