Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 8, 2000

Hey everyone! Summer is really winding down here in W.PA. The nights are getting longer and the grasshoppers and crickets have arrived. Also, we've been in that afternoon/evening thunderstorm mode lately.

Last week was the local fireman's streetfair. Matthew looked so mature as he marched with the group of scouts in his Cub uniform! We went and played bingo one evening. Between Matt, Nick and I we won more than we spent although not much...it's a good mathmatic exercise for summer!

Matthew The weekend prior was the ball team's trophy picnic. I'll attempt to insert Matthew's photo although attachments have been cranky with our email lately. The kids really got nice trophies this year. The older team went undefeated over something like 23 games!

Another rather cute and ironic development is that Mike's niece (who recently turned 5) seems to have a thing for fast cars! The irony is that Mike's sis never really had a sense of appreciation for the hours he spent in the garage. We took Emily for a "cruise" this weekend and when he's hit the gas she'd giggle! Now she wants to go to a regular car show/cruise with us. The one we were gonna go to got rained on Sunday.

I just know these last few weeks till school resumes are gonna fly by. Friday Matt turns 7. Saturday he's to have a birthday Luau in our yard. We chose a rain date of Mon. night just in case. Next week I get to be the supervisor for the art and photo exhibits setting up for our county fair. The following Saturday is the beginning of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Faire.

I almost forgot to mention -- I hope the afternoon thunderstorms hold off tomorrow . Nick was invited to perform with part of the dance school at the amusement park. It's community day there. He's doing both numbers as duets much to my surprise. Also, just in time for the event Mike and I decided to enter the digital age and purchase a camcorder/camera combo. He installed the software but we still have to figure out how to run the cables. I'm really looking forward to having editing capabilities right at my fingertips. It constantly amazes me that when I was in college we never had access to CAD and similar technologies even though it was a top notch school and "only" 13-17 yrs ago.

Well, next time I'll try to update all these events!
