Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 30, 2000

Time sure flies! Today is the last weekday before school starts. The boys are enjoying their last few activities. Tuesday we went to the county fair. It was my day to judge the housekeeping skills of the entrants in the livestock barns. I bought Matt and Nick afternoon ride passes. They had their fill of giant slides and loud, fast, spinning rides. The next two days they spent at the lake with their grandparents. Today Matt finished his summer off with Cub Scout fun day and a parent/son campout. Nick swam with Mike's mom at the community pool.

The Renaissance Faire started last weekend and runs through the end of September. This means a little juggling but the boys enjoy the extra "guys time" with Mike. Last weekend it involved some rides in his classic car and visiting Great Grandma. Juggling arrangments for Sam is a little harder. I thought I'd be able to keep him with me but the manager they sent to train me wasn't baby-friendly. He's crawling now and saying a few words. First word for the record was "Ya-Ya, Da-Da." He also says "Hi" and occasionally "Ma" creeps into the "Ya-Ya" bit.

Oh, I promised to update on the birthday. The party went well. The day was nice with just a short period of drizzle. We just moved the cake and presents into the workshop. By the time Matt opened his gifts, the sun was back out. His favorite gifts seem to be a Hydro Rocket that you pump and it sails way up in the air, and a ball-pitching machine. One boy was fairly anti-social. His mom let him bring his GameBoy and all he did was play Pokemon the whole time! The straw hats went over big, as did the shaved ice and flamingo decorations. Two kids actually fought over who got to keep the flamingo head off the pinata! I'm still worried about Matt being seperated from all his friends in the classroom this year. I'm gonna try and scope the situation out Monday when I drive him for day one.

Until next time, when we should be adding scouts, two soccer teams and acrobatics lessons into the mix!
