Suzi's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 7, 2000

Well, the first week of school went pretty smoothly. I'm still not happy with the room assignment Matt got this year. He seems to be hanging with a group of older kids at recess rather than mixing with the new kids from what he tells me. I'm not quite sure how to resolve it but plan on mentioning it to the teacher at open house next week.

Thanks for the positive feedback about the soccer field issue. I do check my message board but don't always get a chance to do individual responses. Anyhow, here's my update on it for those of you following the saga.

Last week fall soccer started. Due to the fact that the adult softball team has taken residence on and removed the sod from the Youth U8 field, Matthew's team has moved across the street. Instead of playing at the soccer complex, they now painted lines for a new field behind the elementary school. While this is nice and provides playing space it also makes it hard for families with children in more than one age bracket.

There are now families that have to drop off children at each field due to overlap in practices.Hopefully Nick's team (U6) will practice on the same site as the U8. They haven't started their season yet as only three other children have signed up so far.

My latest challenge is to chair the PTO committee that purchases holiday gifts for the students. We need to buy shirts that can double for their track and field day uniforms in the spring. It shouldn't be too hard, just some phone calls now till it's time to package and distribute them in December.

Nick had his first day of school yesterday. It didn't sink in till the night before that half his friends or more moved on to kindergarten and he'd be making new friends. He's a lot more easy going and handles change much better than Matt. So far Sam seems to be even more adaptable than either of his brothers. His big thing is that he'd rather eat table food than jarred food. He now has four teeth and seems to be working on five and six.

Well, almost time for the school bus!

Till next time!
