Suzi's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
December 21, 1999
Mike took the week off work and seems to be going through his own "nesting"
this time. He's out in the workshop cleaning -- vacuuming up a storm. Both
boys have their bags packed. Mike's dad should be here a little later to
take Nicholas to his house for the next few days. Last Friday was his
holiday party at school. Last night he spent a couple hours tinkering at
the computer. We found a HotWheels game online that he really likes. Then
of course he had to play his Elmo games. "Tickle Me Elmo" has also been
subjected to wearing a diaper and sleeping in the bassinet or car seat the
past couple days.
Sunday afternoon, Mike's dad picked Matthew up and took him to visit with
his Great Grandmother. Nick occasionally goes there for the day when he
doesn't have preschool, but Matt hadn't been there for a long visit alone
since school started. They usually enjoy doing projects together when he
visits. Matthew took an old pillow which we'd always kept in my SUV for
when the boys fell asleep. Time and sun had dry rotted it. Well, when he
came home he had a "new" pillow they'd stitched using only the stuffing
from the original -- complete with its own custom pillow case. Great
Grandma still uses an old treadle-style Singer, so I imagine the whole
thing was a quite memorable production. She turned 85 last Spring and our
baby will be her 15th great-grandchild. Matt has also been chattering about
how he got to explore the basement of her house and look at some old
memorabilia that was her husband's (his namesake).
Matthew is excited about the baby but also his 10 days off school. My mom
will be covering for me at the school party tomorrow. I also usually do all
the videoptaping for the PTO archives of all the school event so she'll
hopefully handle that as well. Matt is also looking forward to that
pinewood derby project with Mike as well as an upcoming trip to the ski
resort nearby for an innertubing outing with the Scouts.(Actually, I'm
sorry to miss that but it will be too soon to attempt something so vigorous
after the baby for me!)
They're predicting a White Christmas here with temperatures not rising
above 31 degrees Fahrenheit for the next week. Looks like we'll be cuddling
in here at home and enjoying some quiet time. The boys are both hoping for
some good snowball fights with dad and some sledding!
Happy Holidays!
Suzi
Well -- we're down to the wire.... Looks like this baby isn't going to come
without an official eviction notice. We'll be reporting to the hospital at
6:00 a.m. tomorrow for induction !
