Introduction

Well, Happy Y2K everyone!

Our Christmas Eve baby finally arrived!

Family Samuel James made his entrance Dec 22nd at 3:15PM. He was 9 lbs., 21.5 inches. We brought him home Christmas Eve. Both his big brothers adore him ... to the point that for a few days I had to keep them back some due to runny noses and coughs.

Matthew went to his school holiday party that day with my mom standing in for me. He learned one of those hard lessons. They had a $3 limit gift exchange. All the other kids got toys or books; Matt got a toothbrush and toothpaste. He handled it well according to Nonni, 'except for a little disappointment when the teacher gave them a half an hour to play with their gifts! Oh well -- my boys are definitely not lacking for gifts, so it was a learning experience.

Tuesday night, Mike's family held its annual holiday get together when everyone was home. It's usually a New Year's party, but with Y2K, they moved it up a little. The children pull names round Thanksgiving and exchange gifts at this annually. Matthew made up for the school party with this one. He got the Scooby Doo snowboard he'd wanted from cousin Jen.

The adjustment period with Samuel has gone so smoothly. Mike's been wonderful with all three boys. With it being the holiday season, he's had a lot more time off than he could take when Nicholas was born. He's spent a lot of time just rocking Sam. (Sam likes being semi-upright better than lying down.) He's also been able to take the boys on outings or just out to the workshop and give me some downtime. This was great because Matthew got a remote control VW Beetle. Nick got a similar one but with simplified controls and a smaller size -- all the noisy toys have been relegated to the workshop!

The two days I was in the hospital, Matthew stayed with my parents and Nicholas stayed with Mike's dad and stepmom. We did make sure that they all came together to see Samuel for the first time. That way no one was jealous

Well, hope everyone has their candles and matches handy just in case!
