Introduction
Wow! So much has happened since I last wrote. I hardly know where to begin. First off, yesterday was my birthday and I enjoyed a nice quiet evening at home with my family. Christmas is just a couple of weeks away and I’m still not quite ready yet. The kids are so excited that they can hardly contain themselves. Well, here goes on the updates...
Chasity
She is going through the whining stage now. Sometimes I feel as though I may go mad! It’s non-stop from dusk till dawn. I remember when Stasia went through that stage. It was just as bad then. I know this too shall pass... eventually. But will I still have my sanity when it finally does?
Zack
Major improvement here! I finally found a doctor who understands Zack and our situation. He is on some new medications now and they are making a world of difference. He now takes Adderall along with his Clonidine. It really seems to help. He doesn’t get groggy now like he did before when he was just on the one medication. Not only that, but he is now able to concentrate more in school. Before he started this new medication, he could not sit still long enough to focus on the teacher. And since Zack is deaf, it is imperative that he watches her. He has to get his instructions and directions from her as she signs to him. His teacher can’t believe the difference in him. She says it’s like night and day! Speaking of nights... Zack is now sleeping through the night! Can you believe it? Now if only the cats would sleep at night ... I might actually get some sleep myself.
Stasia
This girl is a social butterfly! She is absolutely blossoming in her new environment. She takes piano lessons and made the chorus group. She loves school and is getting excellent grades. Her only gripe is that she misses Jimmy. (More on that below.)
Jimmy
I’m not sure what happened here, but he just didn’t make the adjustment. The child who used to cry when it came time for summer vacation, all of a sudden decided that he hated school. He would cry just about every morning when we would take him. We hoped it was just the new school thing and thought it would pass. But after two months of him being depressed, we decided to make other arrangements. We took him out of the school and he is now being home schooled. My entire family fought us over the issue. But I spend more time with my children than anyone I know, and I feel that I know what is best for my family. Even his principal said that he believed that Jimmy would do well in a home-schooled environment. It’s been about a month now and he is doing fantastic! He is back to his old cheerful self. The home school program that we chose is not an easy one. The work is difficult. But Jimmy doesn’t mind the work -- he actually enjoys the challenge. And I am thoroughly thrilled to have "the old Jimmy" back.
