Expert Q&A

My son is 9 years old and is wet every night. We have tried using the bed alarms and just about everything else. His doctor says he will grow out of it. My son is very embarrassed about it and I feel so badly for him. He is a very deep sleeper. When he grows bigger but remains a deep sleeper, is he likely to continue wetting the bed?

The vast majority of bedwetters will "grow out of it." Only about 1 percent of adults have this problem, so your son's doctor is most likely correct. Children are often embarrassed by this problem and require your reassurance that this is not their fault and that many children experience bedwetting. Alternatives to the alarms include protective shorts such as GOODNITES® Underpants or medications.
