Expert Q&A

We eat well at home, but I notice that my kids are playing at homes where junk food is the norm. They will come home and tell me that they had a bag of chips or some cookies and a soda. This can happen a few times a week. Should I make a big deal about turning down this food when it's offered, or should I let it slide? I want my kids to be healthy, but I don't want them to obsess either.
I wouldn't make a big deal about this. Depending on the age of the children, I might make a small, yet consistent, theme that we stick with "healthy choices" at home. I would not make a big deal of it. A lot rides upon the grocery shopping at home; the parents have to stick with the program with the same healthy choices.
